For roughly a decade I built Seafoam Dreams Vacations from the ground up. Owners, guests, cleaners, bookings, and all the small emergencies that never show up in a beautiful listing.
I was proud of it. But the more it grew, the more I saw how much of it depended on things I didn't own: other people's properties, clients, listings and platforms.
The part people don't see
After losing my baby and walking through postpartum depression, I was trying to keep a demanding business running in one of the hardest seasons of my life. Life at home changed too. Today, it's my daughter and me.
Clients I'd worked with for years left. Problems piled up. I got warnings that my platform account could be at risk. I saw how quickly a decade of work could shift because of things outside my control.

I still believe in entrepreneurship. I just don't want every dollar depending on one model, one client, or one platform. Online income isn't passive, guaranteed, or easy. But spreading out is a way to build with more ownership.
